Day of Installation

The day of the installation finally arrived. Sean and I met the installers at the townhouse to let them in and make sure everything was set. However, we weren’t given the opportunity to inspect the carpet beforehand to ensure it matched the existing one. We were simply told that the job would be completed by around 1 PM. Both installers, who I later learned were the sons of the ladies from the office, got right to work. To their credit, they did their jobs well, and I have nothing negative to say about them personally. They were professional and efficient throughout.

I returned to the property around noon to check on the progress, and by the time I arrived, they had already torn out the hallway carpet and completed the stairs. Immediately, I pointed out—again—that the hallway was not supposed to be done. But I received the same response as before: "It was on the work order. If Jimmy said to do it, we are going to do it."

At this point, there wasn’t much else I could do but let them finish the job, though it was clear they knew I wasn’t happy about the situation. I planned to call Jimmy to come out and see the results in person.

When the installation was completed, it became apparent that the hallway carpet didn’t match at all. Instead of having one clean seam at the bottom of the step and at the top, there were now three visible seams at the doorways to each of the bedrooms. The new carpet was noticeably different in color and much thinner than the original carpet in the hallway, making the transition look even more awkward and out of place.

This was exactly what I had wanted to avoid from the beginning, and the end result only added to my growing frustration with the entire experience.
